In August 2006, the ISS Slow Scan TV system ran for a short experimental period of time and I, along with David (G8OQW), sucessfully received pictures. Considerable interest was subsequently generated and I was asked by the then editor of Radcom to write an article for publication. After the article was submitted and accepted, the SSTV system on board the ISS was switched off and consequently Radcom decided to hold the article pending resumption of the system. An adaptation of this article did appear in the BBC's Sky At Night magazine dated December 2006.

At the time, David G8OQW and I seemed to have been the only two amateurs in the United Kingdom to have received any ISS pictures!

In late 2008 and into early 2009, as part of the 25th year celebrations of amateur radio aboard the International Space Station, SSTV pictures were once again beamed down to earth!
